Canaries, Cape Verde → Caribbean

From the Canary Islands or Cape Verde to the Caribbean: this is the ocean leg of the westbound crossing, driven by the trade winds. It's also the leg for which skippers look for crew the most, often from Las Palmas, Tenerife or Mindelo.

The season runs from late November to January. From the Canaries the crossing takes about three weeks; from Cape Verde, which is closer, rather two weeks.
