This 67-year-old crew member, who is German and American and lives in Regensburg, is looking for a place on a private yacht for a longer offshore journey. His preferred route runs from the Canary Islands to the Caribbean, either via Cape Verde or directly. He is not after a holiday cruise or a charter with shared cabins. He wants to be a hands-on crew member, gain more sailing experience and learn from an experienced skipper. From mid-November 2026 he is completely flexible and can adapt to the route and plans. In the longer term he hopes to explore the Caribbean and the coasts of the Americas, then carry on to the Pacific to discover its nature, landscapes and cultures, and to visit family along the way. He speaks German (native), English and a little French. He enjoys swimming, jogging, yoga, volleyball and windsurfing. He is a non-smoker with no dietary requirements. Experience: he has sailed both monohulls and catamarans, with about 1,010 ocean miles and 2,046 coastal miles. This includes a nine-day passage from Lanzarote to Cape Verde on a catamaran in 2017, and 80 days aboard the catamaran Mea Fortuna (Lucia 40) from April to July 2026. He has also done charters in Thailand, Indonesia, Greece, Croatia and Sardinia. He holds a silver lifeguard qualification obtained in October 2026. On board he offers night watches, active sailing, cooking, cleaning, help with maintenance and repairs, and shopping and provisioning. He would like to exchange his work for a berth, while accepting a reasonable, negotiable contribution to running costs and food. He is not looking for the cheapest way to travel, but wants to be part of a good crew and take responsibility.
