A 23-year-old Portuguese skipper is sailing around the world on his Jeanneau Sun Odyssey 50DS, Aquila, with his dog Knox, a young Newfoundland. He is looking for crew to join him on the Atlantic crossing. He is currently in Lanzarote and expects to be in Gran Canaria on November 15. He plans to leave around the 16th for Mindelo in Cape Verde, stay a few days, then sail on to Martinique (Le Marin), with landfall expected around December 10. The trip is voluntary and sailing expenses are covered by the skipper, but crew must pay for their own flights. Novice crew are welcome. Expenses to and from the boat and onboard costs are negotiable. The boat is a 2012, 15 m deck saloon yacht with two berths. She is spacious, bright, easy to sail and well equipped, with up-to-date safety gear and plenty of redundancy. The language spoken aboard is English. The skipper holds RYA Coastal Skipper, Day Skipper Practical, Yachtmaster Theory and a VHF/GMDSS certificate, and has between 2,500 and 10,000 sea miles. He speaks English and Portuguese fluently, with basic Spanish.
