A 38-year-old Swiss sailor based in Barcelona is looking to join a boat as crew for offshore passages, deliveries and an Atlantic crossing. His goal is to build the miles needed for the RYA Yachtmaster Offshore and, eventually, Yachtmaster Ocean. He holds the RYA Coastal Skipper qualification and has around 2,000 nautical miles of coastal and offshore experience, with no ocean miles yet. He is comfortable standing offshore watches, helping with navigation, handling sails, reefing and sailing at night. He describes himself as calm under pressure, safety-minded and keen to learn from experienced skippers. Professionally he leads international engineering teams in renewable energy, so he is used to responsibility, problem solving and clear communication. He is fit, trains CrossFit regularly, and is happy to take on the less glamorous jobs on board. He is a non-smoker. He is looking for Atlantic crossings (ARC or independent), yacht deliveries, mile-building offshore passages, and Caribbean or Mediterranean sailing. He prefers shared-cost private yachts. He would especially like to join a boat before the ARC, help deliver her to Las Palmas, get to know the crew and then continue across the Atlantic. He speaks fluent English, German and Spanish, plus conversational French, and is flexible to travel worldwide.
